The 19th FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) World Cup is taking place from 11 June to 11 July 2010. South Africa will be the first African country to host the competition.
As usual, numerous designated operators of UPU member countries are expected to issue postage stamps marking the event.
Countries planning to do so should be aware that the issuing of stamps and the reproduction of the FIFA 2010 World Cup logo are subject to intellectual property rights held by FIFA.
FIFA has informed the UPU that it is willing to assist countries planning stamp issues with the necessary formalities. It also informs UPU members that full information on reproduction rights, contractual arrangements between FIFA and issuing authorities, and options for promoting stamps through FIFA are available from:
